The Divine Purpose

Created in the Image of God: The Divine Purpose
(Genesis 1:26-28)

I. The Divine Plan
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:26)

II. The Divine Pattern
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

III. The Divine Purpose
“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28)

1. God owns and faithfully provides all things. (Psalm 24:1; Psalm 50:10-11; Matthew 7:11; Philippians 4:19)

2. God blesses His Creation. (Genesis 1:22, 28; Psalm 146:5)

3. We are blessed to be fruitful and multiply. (Isaiah 45:18; Psalm 127:3-5)

4. We are given the responsibility to fill the earth and subdue it. (Psalm 8; Colossians 3:23-24)

Application Question: How well are you stewarding your time, talent, and treasure? (Matthew 25:14-30)

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” (Matthew 25:23)
