“Hallowed Be Thy Name”

The Lord’s Prayer: “Hallowed Be Thy Name”
(Matthew 6:9)

We ask that God’s name be hallowed:
1. In the world. (Isaiah 6:3; Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:20; Numbers 4:21; Habakkuk 2:14; Philippians 2:10)
2. In the Church. (Isaiah 6:1-4; Leviticus 19:30; Acts 2:42-47)
3. In our lives. (Matthew 5:14-16; Philippians 1:20; Acts 1:8)
4. In the powerful name of Jesus! (Philippians 2:9-11; Acts 4:12, 30; John 14:13)

God’s name is glorified when God’s people know his name, reverence his name, and magnify his name before an unbelieving world by trusting him to accomplish his work in them and through them.

Application Questions:
What does it mean to hallow God’s name?
Why are names significant?
Reflect on some of the names of God from the Bible.
How are you reflecting God’s name in your life?
Why is the name of Jesus so powerful?
Pray using the Lord’s Prayer this week and really think about the words you are saying.
