The Spirit of Christmas Future
(Romans 8:18-25)

I. The Holy Spirit was active at Creation and the Incarnation.
A. The Holy Spirit hovered over the waters. (Genesis 1:1-3)
B. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary. (Luke 1:35)
C. The Holy Spirit gives life to all. (Genesis 2:7; Psalm 104:24,30; Ezekiel 37:1-14)

II. The Holy Spirit is active in the new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
A. The Holy Spirit gives us new birth. (John 3:5-6)
B. The Holy Spirit brings us renewal of life. (Titus 3:5)
C. The Holy Spirit indwells the church. (Ephesians 2:22)

III. The Holy Spirit will be active in re-creation.
A. The present creation is in bondage to decay. (Romans 8:20-21)
B. The Spirit in us is a sign of the renewal to come. (Romans 8:22-23)
C. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead will raise you. (Romans 8:11)
D. God will reconcile all things to Himself through Christ. (Colossians 1:19-20)
E. God will live with us in the new heaven and earth. (Revelation 21:1-4; Luke 2:14)
