I. The Baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11)
A. The testimony of Jesus – He is the Savior (Matthew 3:14-15)
1. Jesus was baptized to identify with us. (Romans 8:3; 1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
2. Jesus was baptized to demonstrate His mission. (Mark 10:38, 45; Luke 12:50; Romans 6:4)
3. Jesus was baptized as an example for us. (Matthew 1:21)
B. The testimony of the Spirit – Jesus is the Christ (Mark 1:10)
C. The testimony of the Father – Jesus is the Son of God (Mark 1:11; Psalm 2:7)
II. The Temptation in the Desert (Mark 1:12-13)
A. Sent by the Spirit. (Romans 8:28; Job 1:20-22)
B. Tempted by Satan. (James 1:13)
C. Attended by angels. (Mark 1:13; 1 Corinthians 10:13)
Application:
Jesus is the Savior; He is the Christ, the promised Messiah; He is the Son of God.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
