You Shall Call His Name Jesus: The Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16)
I. Description of Jesus, the Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-15)
1. Jesus, the Great High Priest has passed through the heavens and sits at the right hand of God. (Acts 1:9-11; Luke 24:50-53; Hebrews 1:3)
2. Jesus, the Great High Priest is the Son of God. (Hebrews 1:1-4; John 1:14)
3. Jesus, the Great High Priest is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. (Hebrews 5:8-9)
4. Jesus, the Great High Priest was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13; John 14:30)
II. Our response to Jesus, the Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16)
1. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
2. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:19-20)
3. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
