Abiding in Powerful Prayer

Abiding in Powerful Prayer  (James 5:13-18)

  1. “Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. ” (James 5:13a; John 16:33)
  1. “Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.” (James 5:13b; Psalm 33:1-5)
  1. “Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14-15b; Mark 6:13)


Powerful prayers are from a clean heart. (James 5:16a; Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1-2)

Powerful prayers are from right living.  (James 5:16b; Proverbs 15:29)

Powerful prayers are full of faith. (James 5:15-16;  Mark 11:24)

Powerful prayers are passionate and persistent. (James 5:17-18; Genesis 32:22-32; Ephesians 6:18)

Application Questions:

How would you describe your prayer life?

When do you find it easiest/hardest to pray?

Is there any sin or disobedience that might be hindering your prayers?

Ask the Lord to increase your faith!

Will you commit to spending time in powerful prayer in 2017?
