Reunited in Christ
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
I. We will be reunited when Christ returns.
A. The dead in Christ will rise first (1 Thessalonians 4:13-16)
B. Then we who are still alive will be caught up with them (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
II. We will join with the whole family of God.
A. We will know and recognize each other. (Matthew 8:11, 17:3; Luke 10:20; Philippians 3:21 (see Ecclesiastes 1:11)
B. We will be reunited with our family members who have died in Christ. (2 Samuel 12:23; Zechariah 8:5; Matthew 22:30; Luke 18:16)
C. We will all live in perfect harmony (Genesis 11:6-7; Colossians 3:10-11; Hebrews 12:22-23)
III. Christ will still be the main attraction! (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
APPLICATION:
- Reconcile with others now – don’t wait for heaven (Matthew 5:23-24)
- Grieve – but not like those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13)
- Pray for your unsaved loved ones to come to Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:14)
