Unwrapping Christmas: The Gift of Love
1 John 4:9-11
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1. God’s gift to you is measured by its USEFULNESS. (John 10:10; Ephesians 1:4; Matthew 25:21)
2. God’s gift to you is measured by its COST. (1 John 4:9,10; Romans 5:8; 2 Samuel 24:24)
3. God’s gift to you is measured by its EFFECTIVENESS. (1 John 4:11; John 13:35; Matthew 5:14-16)
What are you going to do to keep Jesus the center of Christmas this year?
How do you measure the value of a gift?
What is your purpose in life?
Where do you find meaning in life?
What is the costliest gift you have ever received? Ever given?
Are you giving to the Lord sacrificially? How?
How has God’s love changed you?
How is or should this change be evidenced to those around you?
